I have been admiring the glass blocks I have seen for the past year. This year I decided to give it a try and give them to my parents as a gift. I found some glass blocks on Craig’s List at a great price and sent my hubby to get them. Meanwhile, I went to Menard’s and bought a drill bit for glass. So I came home and realized that my work goggles (I know, funny I should even own a pair) were lost somewhere in our ultra organized (NOT!!) garage. I borrowed my son’s play goggles he got for Christmas last year (he was 2 then). That was a mistake….
I gotta tell you, those goggles squeezed my head so tight! I could feel my skin being pulled away from my eyeballs and to make matters worse I couldn’t even see what I was doing. The goggles were scratched up and so clouded over…no doubt the result of being handled by my boys doing who knows what with them. So there I was, at the sink, attempting to drill a hole in my glass blocks, with the water running, trying not to electrocute myself and not seeing a stinkin’ thing I was doing. My oldest son who’s five said, “Whoa! Mom, you look sort of wierd!” Yeah, I looked way wierd….
I did finish the glass block but was so horrified by it I threw it out. I just wasn’t happy with my end result, so sorry, no picture this time! Whether I try it again or not remains to be seen! Have any of you tried these too?
